Telling the truth, those good old days
had many a rut along the way.
There was getting through college
while working full-time,
as I didn't have much beyond a dime.
Then after college the moving around
the high mortgage rates making feel
I would drown.
Those eerie nights waiting for that first
born to arrive, wondering if the wonderful
boy would survive.
The second and third child came along
I was singing the career dad's song.
While mom was doing the rocking,
I was working to fill the Christmas stockings.
Then as time continued to fly by,
The mergers and acquisitions era came and went,
while I wondered would my position finally spent?
So the "Good Old Days", yes there were many
But I am so glad I earned more than pennies,
so now I can write and muse on the past
as long as my pennies will continue to last.
