TWO SPACES REQUIRED
(What grammar guru changed the rule?)

Thank you FanStory for allowing this "op"
To vent my frustrations on sentencing stop
And the rule that most keyboarders fail to adhere
That two spaces behind punctuation appear

Now back in the old days when "typing" was used
And spacing was something to not be abused
In order to separate sentence from sentence
Spacing was crucial for writing acceptance

To separate thoughts or a list or a clause
A comma was used to allow for a pause
A single lone space was the yield or a warn
To allow a quick breath before carrying on

But the end of a sentence demanded you stop
So to clarify that as the end of a thought
Two spaces allowed you to see right away
That a critical halt was ahead of the way

It was easily seen like the red on a sign
That a stop was ahead at the end of the line
This doubling of space was a thoughtful provision
Preventing the hazard of writing collision

And not to look run-on in squashed paragraph
With sentences blending like grammarly gaffe
But now it's the mindset of technology
That one space at the end of a sentence should be

This lazy man's short-cut to save but a sec
What grammatical guru created this wreck
So what might be next one rhetorically asks
Shall there be no more spacing between paragraphs?

Author Notes
Whew! You know, my psychologist was right... Venting is a good source of self-help! Feeling somewhat better now after getting this heavy burden off my chest! Just talking this out has given me inspiration through the need to "accept the things I cannot change" and to go on with life as is.

P.S. But I'll still use two spaces after typed punctuation...and be "proud" of it!
