For My Dog, Beaver
He had been with us since he was a pup.
A sweet dog with a spirit that would never give up.
He was playful and compassionate, full of energy.
A beloved member of our family.
But now he's gone after eighteen years.
We had to put him down, he was in so much pain.
We cried as he left us, we wallowed in our tears.
Our once vivacious dog with no more life left to gain.
He went peacefully with just a simple wink of his eyes
He was taken from us to Jesus' paradise in the skies.
Where all of the aches that crippled his tiny body.
Are now gone, and he is once again moving free.
And we will remember our friend always.
And how God blessed us with him to brighten our days.

Author Notes
This a poem that was written after I learned that my dog Beaver had been put to sleep. I was distraught that he had died since he had been our family dog for many years. This poem is dedicated to his memory.
