The Maw of Madness Departed by Fonda Little
Poem with a dark or scary theme. writing prompt entry

Warning: The author has noted that this contains the highest level of violence.
"Down and down,
I would descend,
and I made,
so many fake,
good friends,
in my sin!

We spread that poison,
all around,
and if we were too up,
we would drink to come down,
and if too down,
we would smoke,
to get back up!

That poison stayed flowing,
in every cup!

What a dreaded sight,
we were,
when beheld!

Because we were never,
really ourselves!

Because addiction is you,
just a different name spelled!

Violent fights,
things thrown,
and smashed on the floor!

Crying and rocking,
until we hit another score!

Do you hear yourself in me?

Do you feel what I portray?

All the hopelessness,
fighting everything within,
to just make that high stay,
and all your loved ones,
would just go away?

What I am explaining,
is a descent into madness,
forget about,
all that pitiful sadness!

Did the addiction,
almost make you kill your mother?

Throw bricks at your father,
after slapping and breaking,
the reading glasses off of his face?

Pushing them away so fiercely,
just for another taste,
of the poison,
chosen?

The choice is in you,
to ingest that,
so reality never comes into view,
and all those nightmares,
actually come true!

Does this strike deep in you,
a solid cord of fear?

Well I hope you think of my story,
every time you pick up that beer,
and drop it,
letting it go,
because you're hurting,
yourself and your family,
more than you could possibly know!

I made it out,
into The Blessed Light,
with My Best Friend Jesus!

So I know if I can,
you certainly can too!

That where you are,
is not at all,
the end of you!

So find that little ray of hope,
and scream it loud from your throat!

Put down that pen,
and rip up,
that suicide note!

Because God and your family,
doesn't want,
a final goodbye letter,
they just want you to stay,
and just get better!"

Writing Prompt
Write a poem of any type, with a dark theme.

Author Notes
In five days I will have 8 months clean and sober By the Grace of God!!! Hallelujah for God's Amazing Grace for saving a wretch like me!!! I was in active addiction for 15 years and this poem is explaining when I was on bathsalts for six straight months near the end of my active addiction right before I had my first stroke and called out Jesus's Name and He saved me! It takes what it takes to get clean and sober and become a true believer In Jesus Christ! I know 100% that if I hadn't called on Jesus I would've died that night! I am grateful now with all that has happened in my life, even my addiction because it is now my ministry! I pray that this is what it takes for anyone reading this to get clean and sober and surrender their will and life to Jesus so they can live their best life! Because those drugs will just take and take until all that is left for them to claim is your life, I know that all too well from so many near death experiences! All Glory, Praise, Honor, and Respect Goes to God because He so rightfully deserves it and always will and I pray all this In Jesus's Almighty, All Powerful, Divine, Holy, Majestic Name, The Name Above All Names, amen, Amen, AMEN!!!

Isaiah 9:2 New International Version (NIV)
2 The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned.

Matthew 4:16 New International Version (NIV)
16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.?¢??
