Baby Jena Has Some Questions by Reese Turner
Children's rhyming poem writing prompt entry

I wish I knew how I got here
Mom says “from Heaven."
Dad says, “That’s right dear.”

I wish I knew what a brother is
They say he’s mine but when
I touch a toy he says that’s his!

I wish I knew about this thing;
It has four legs and licks my face
And when dad says “fetch” it'll bring.

I wish I knew what is that screen
That makes my dad jump and shout
“Worst football I have ever seen!”

I wish I knew why my mom crys
When its me who falls and hurts
Putting hot tears in my own eyes.

I wish I knew why it gets so dark, then,
I wake up from a little nap and
Suddenly, magic, its light again!

I wish I knew why mom gets so upset
When I put all I find into my mouth.
She says, “don’t do that”, but I forget…

I wish I knew what is the deal
When they change my diapers
Sometimes shouting, “Is this for real?”

Oh, the mysteries of my life in this
Place - will I ever understand it all?
Meanwhile, how ‘bout another kiss!
