The two main things that drive me wild—
And make me think I’m going mad:
Are when a word I need won’t come,
And losing things that I just had.
My reading glasses are the things
I seem to lose with frequent ease;
But they play second fiddle to
The panic caused by misplaced keys.
And sometimes when I’m in the car,
My mind a million miles away,
I find that I have quite forgot
My destination for the day.
At times, when talking to my friends,
The word I mean slips from my mind;
But they pitch in, in times of need
For we're all in the same dern bind.
The thing I say most often now
Is “Have I told you that before?”
And then I smile because I see
You don’t remember anymore.
I fear my eloquence is gone;
And my vocabulary too.
At this rate, I’ll be pointing next;
I think my brain has turned to goo!
