A short rhymed poem
Molly's Folly by Debra White

A rabbit and a pigeon sat
before me on the grass.
Ten feet away, that's all they were,
and both as bold as brass!

The rabbit nibbled casually.
The pigeon stood his ground.
The cocky pair's audacity
wound up my inner-hound.

I didn't settle soon enough
which one of them to chase;

I leapt, he flapped, she hopped... somehow
they vanished into space!

Author Notes
Folly - foolish or senseless behaviour
Bold as brass - exuding extreme confidence
Audacity - a willingness to take bold risks

Photo taken from my walk with Molly, our English Springer Spaniel, this morning.

She was too indecisive to catch either the pigeon or the rabbit (not that I encourage her to chase the wildlife!)

The English Springer Spaniel is a breed of gun dog in the Spaniel family traditionally used for flushing and retrieving game. It is an affectionate, excitable breed. (Wikipedia)
