It's not the prize that lures me forward, it's the competition.
The challenge is the bait that I travel toward.
Were I to win, it would be a grandest feat, life is a competition.
Having high hopes makes my heart skip a beat. Oh, I love a competition.
Were I to lose to someone else's strength,
I wouldn't care if I endured the weakness throughout.
Competing in any challenge is, for me,
the best for what ails, cure and remedy, God's given competition.
Life itself is a competition day by day, new challenges
enjoyable God given hours to while away.
I can beat myself up over many regrets, compete in sorrow
or keep all the memories and live with what I get,
Competing with my conscience or aching bones,
when I take a morning breath, it's life anew.
God lets me live and I compete with humanity,
If I keep struggling, I will keep my sanity and compete.

Writing Prompt |
Write a free verse poem on competition. Tell what it means to be competitive and why you love competition or not. Free verse is a form of poetry that does not necessarily follow to any specific meter patterns, rhyme, or any other pattern. Free verse, despite its freedom, often still has some elements of form. Most free verse does observe a convention of lines and structure. No rhyming patterns. |
