One Fall Day by Flyaway1
I Remember writing prompt entry

I remember a fall day long ago when my doctor pointed out the large mass in my girl's leg. It looked eerily white against the dark background of the x-ray. I didn't have a place in my mind for what I saw in that moment. Mass, what did he mean?

I remember a phone call and the urgency of driving to a specialist. I was shaken and got lost on the unfamiliar roads. I felt sheer panic that he would not be there. I fought the tears. How could I cry with my little girl at my side?

I remember that even though it was late, the doctor had waited for us. He studied the x-ray before turning slowly to look at me. He said: "I am very sorry to tell you that your little girl has cancer."

To my beautiful daughter, a sister, a a wife and a loving mother. To her laughter that fills a room and her love that reaches to the very depth of oceans- how I love you.

I remember

Writing Prompt
Begin your non-fiction autobiographical story or poem with the words 'I remember...' Complete the sentence conveying a moment, an object, a feeling, etc. This does not have to be a profound memory, but should allow readers insight into your feelings, observations and/or thoughts. Use at least 100, but not more than 1,000 words. The count should be stated in your author notes.

Author Notes
This little girl is now 36. A hard battle was fought. Memories that recall pain that I wish I did not remember. These memories need to be honored for the mercy and grace that was experienced.
