       Swerving here
   climbing there…
Following along the course without alter,
trusting that others simply cannot falter…
       across mud
           over grass
              around rocks.

             Sliding there
        marching here…
Bearing the off’ring worth the strife,
knowing the harvest will mean life…
           to larvae
              for workers
                   and soldiers.

                 Scooting here
            dashing there…
Their echelons living paths without rival
the goal always the colony’s survival…
                above all
                      before self
                             over death.

Author Notes
I've always been fascinated by a colony of ants: from the large leaf cutters that can strip a small-to-medium tree overnight to those annoying itty-bitty sugar ants that get into the kitchen sometimes...truly remakable creatures, don't you think? Hope you enjoy! :)
