I watched her as she grew,
so precious, so innocent.
A birthday present
the day she turned six.
Inseparable ever since.
I remember her mother
letting her try the soft pink lip gloss
the very first time.
I watched as she blossomed
into the beautiful young woman,
graduating the top of her class,
countless friends,
limitless possibilities.
I saw her smile every morning.
But sadly came the day
when all I became...
a mirror
to momentarily hold her addiction.
I held her cocaine,
those perfectly cut lines
of imaginary fulfillment.
I witnessed her beauty fade.
Not long after came the day
I was found,
broken,
lying next to her lifeless body.
The laced cocaine
still smeared upon my face.
I watched her grow,
so precious, so innocent.
Then I watched her die.
