He said,"I'll not leave you, my darling, this time."
For your love is calling,
your beauty; sublime.
"I'll go fetch the carriage, just wait at the gate.
We'll go to the chapel.
I will not be late."
So Clarence took off to find carriage and horse.
Then, he had to dress in his black suit
of course.
By the time he had finished, his will then did falter...
all this hard work
turned his back to the altar.
But this time dear Merriam felt something amiss.
She knew she would not
wait this time for his kiss.
She fashioned a love note from her hopes and dreams
and sweetly aknowledged
things weren't what they seemed.
But she had prepared this time;Oh, she was clever.
She'd packed all her bags
she'd be coming back...never.
The note she did lay (and her plan didn't falter.)
Merriam, this time
Left him at the altar.
Her flowers, she scattered...she'd look back; not ever.
Her note contained horse poo-
she felt,oh so clever.
Then Clarence did change and decided to show
In the church he would prove to her
what he would do.
But what a surprise when instead of his bride
he discovered his shoe
in the carriage horse poo.
