I’m Glad You Are My Mother
I’m Glad you are my Mother;
For this I have no doubt
You’ve given me good values
I’ve used in life throughout.
You’re always there to hold me
And soothe away my pain
You lift me up if I am down
And set me straight again.
I would be lost without you
Though try I cannot find
The words to ever thank enough
I know you will not mind.
But there is still another
Who must be mentioned now
For guidance and good wisdom
He’s always right somehow.
And that would be my father
A man I do admire
His words and kindness given free
These traits I do aspire.
I often read his poetry
His words are written down
I’ll never be as good as him
But thank him anyhow.
And still I have some more to Thank
My sisters and my brothers
Who shared my life when we were kids
Still do; they’re like no others.
We often get together now
And laugh about our past
Tell jokes and stories of good times
Shared memories always last.
And to my in-law family
They’ve given me much more
I get along with every one
And love them that’s for sure.
But now I really must expand
Include my friends as well
I couldn’t live without their love
Each one I often tell.
Our paths may cross when least expect
But we will take the time
To bring each other up to date
I’m glad that they are mine.
We laugh and share the good and bad
We hug when we do meet
From many different worlds they come
They make my life complete.
Yet best of all I save to last
Without them wouldn’t be
My darling husband; he’s my rock
My great kids, there are three.
I treasure all the memories
So many we have made
They fill my life with love each day
Not one would ever trade.
I’ll not forget my in-law kids
I’m lucky I have ‘four’
It’s time to tell them how I feel
Each one I do adore.
Grandchildren six, complete this tale
Each one a special child
I watch them grow and see their love
They all have me beguiled.
We must have others in our lives
To share our journey with
Appreciate them one by one
There’s so much that they give.
So take the time to tell them all
How much they mean to you
Before too late and you have gone
For this you can’t undo.
