A farmer carefully plants his seed
Works to dig up choking weed
He stands on his porch
Looking up at sun he hopes will not scorch
He waits for the sweet, blessed, gentle raindrops
So nourishing and healthy for his crops
He dreams that there will be no doubt
That his plants and vegetables will sprout
So many depend on him in their need
His family, and others in the world to feed
He takes pride in his fertile soil
Enriches and rewards his back-breaking toil
