What's in you I see?
Mirror, Mirror by Mimi Linny
Mirror contest writing prompt entry

Mirror, mirror
Quite contrary
What's in you I see?
I thought the last time that I looked
The imagery was me!

But this time as I look to you,
Upon a quick inspection,
Staring back
And what I see
Cannot be "my" reflection!

You must have broken somehow...
I used to be so slim
Without a wrinkle, blemish-free...
And body fit and trim.

Where have you hidden me, I ask
And what's she doing there?
This grand imposter showing up
With grey lines through her hair!

I even flipped the mirror round,
In curiosity...
But nearly scared myself to death
For 10-fold grew did she!

I'm stomping mad and goodness knows
I've every right, you see,
The mirror I bought yesterday
Defective you must be!

I've packed you up, the box I saved,
Receipt I've found, in-tact...
So off we go to Wal-Mart
And I'll get my money back!
