The People
There was a lady who lived in a town
Where everything was the same
Grey cars, grey clothes, grey houses
And roofs
One day in December the snow began to fall
Heavy and deep it came to cover
Until the trees and roofs were full
Down crashed a tree onto the roof
The insurance man came
"A new roof you will need."
"The color choice is yours."
"My, I didn't know, I'll take red."
The neighbours laughed and sneered
They thought she had lost her mind
"Why, no one has a red roof."
"Our town will be put to shame."
A strange event began to happen
Red flowers began to bloom
Everywhere one looked
Red began to appear
People came from far and wide
To see the wonderful sites
Who had ever heard of red?
The lady smiled and looked in the mirror
Red dress and shoes, purse to match
A red hat covered her red hair
She smiled from red ear to ear
"My, I think my next roof will be green."
