Anxiety by Ogden
Emotions writing prompt entry
(See author's note below)

When you feel too jumpy in your troubled skin,
Again, right there is your handy stash of Xanax;
You take a little Xanax for the panic that you’re in.
If your purse is out of Xanax,
while those jitter nerves attack,
You go home and pop Pop's Prozac,
and you know that you'll relax.

Others, when flustered, eat gallons of ice cream.
But, not long can they stay away from Xanax
because to quit's so much harder than it seemed.
Ice cream and Xanax, is such a lovely mix,
Yet, after wolfing down these soothers,
they always do a Prozac for that needed extra fix.

But if still you feel so antsy in your often skittish skin,
don’t try the new and fancy, and moreover, nothing chancy;
Just take your safe old Xanax for that bitter stew you’re in.

NOTE
Dear reader, please note that "Anxiety" is satire, addressing the casual abuse of addictive medications, that never should be used in the reckless manner I described.
