When life gets too tough and you think you can't cope
You can always just sit there and rally some hope
You can call on your faith while you watch the time pass
Or be productive and get off your ass
Wishful thinking is just fine when we're young
Santa may come when the stockings are hung
But when life makes demands of a more serious sort
It's action that works while blind hope falls quite short
Hope has no price but its value is endless
It gets us past times when we're feeling helpless
But the real key to joy is to show that we care
That always comes when we're willing to share
The next time you feel down and somewhat dejected
Do something different and unexpected
Find someone homeless and give them a meal
Watch as they eat and see how you feel
Hope always grows when given to others
If held for oneself it only smothers
Love, faith and hope all grow the same way
They do their magic when given away
