Sitting in the tavern drinking beer
Rusty the rustler was of good cheer
Said to his buddy on the next stool
"Ya know there's a cowboy what thinks me a fool
But while I've been a-drinkin' up
My brain it's been a-clinkin' up
And I've been sittin' here a-thinkin' up
A plan that's a-linkin' up
Somethin' I should'a thought up long before
Tomorrow that cowboy won't trouble me no more."

Jerry Jing-Jang next morning with cattle to find
Said "I could follow this trail even if I was blind.
I knows full well that something ain't right,
It looks like ol' Rusty's a-wantin' to fight
So if I was a rustler a-wantin' to scrap
Where's the best spot to lay out a trap?
If I stay on this trail I could find myself dead
I'd best turn 'round and surprise him instead."
Around up the hill the cowboy did ride
To scope out the spots where an outlaw might hide.

Jerry Jing-Jang found Rusty without too much trouble
And crept up behind him on the double.
The outlaw sat on a make-shift bed
Queasy in the belly and hurtin' in the head.
Wondered aloud how the cowboy knew
Exactly what an outlaw planned to do.
"Ya got yerself drunken up
Till yer brains got to chuckin' up
The dangdest fool notion ever thunken up
Now ya'll be hearin' a jail cell a-clinkin'
On account of yer stinkin' thinkin'."
