My long drive up Highway 1 towards San Francisco had begun. Something I'd been hoping to do for more than forty years. Not that I could have known, it would be in California that I would do this particular journey. I had found my real mother which she didn't yet know and now I was to see her. I rang the bell and there she was. I started crying and looked into her questioning eyes. Writing Prompt Write a complete story in 80 words or less. The theme is 'Surprise.' You may incorporate this theme into the story any way you wish, but it must somehow relate to the topic. Recognized Author Notes 79 words I later learned that my mum's favourite bird was the flamingo. Hence the photo. One day I'll write the full story.
