Those saucy clumps of daffodils
that frolic in the April sun
perk up the corners of my mouth
as Spring's now here I'm certain.
The blossoming magnolia tree
is bursting with white-petaled stars.
Its perfume wafted by a breeze
erases all of winter's scars.
The cushion of a lush green lawn,
appearance of new buds galore,
and sweet chorale of birds unseen
all swiftly make my spirits soar.
Oh, early Spring's my smiling time!
As cheering as a perfect rhyme.
