Let it Be. by RichardFann Choose One Of The Following Titles writing prompt entry |
'In the jungle we're surrounded by lots of nasty things,' said Geoff. 'But who was here first?' I asked. 'The animals,' he said, pouring a coffee for us out of a stainless steel flask. 'All those generations, back to prehistoric times,' I said. 'The lions, tigers, elephants and bears used to outnumber us humans,' Geoff said, 'and now it's the other way round.' 'That's what puzzles me,' I replied, 'So many people, and so much sin.' 'The wages of sin is death,' Geoff interrupted, 'but the human population is increasing. These animals are without sin, yet their population is decreasing.' 'Doesn't seem fair,' I said, taking a swig of coffee. Just then Geoff reached for his rifle. Then I saw it too, a leopard half hidden in the bushes, about fifty yards away. Geoff took aim. I pushed out my arm and knocked the barrel of his rifle in the air. 'Let it be,' I said. 'What?' Geoff exclaimed, 'we're here to go hunting.' 'Let it go,' I said, reaching for my camera. 'We can get it on film. Then post it on You Tube. Then we are famous.'
