An Owl's Perspective
                     by michael cahill

A wizened night owl stares as I sneak by.
It seems my secrets known to him alone.
Yet, eyes burn holes into my soul like lye
I know for carnal sins I will atone

From first I saw her lust ran to the bone,
a fevered madness, sense swept from my mind.
I dreamed about a lifetime's skills to hone,
in rabid, fevered heat such thrills to find.

Last night it seemed the stars were all aligned,
disheveled though her chamber did become,
but then her husband found us thus entwined.
I dove through bedroom window; he yelled, "SCUM!"

Our former passion turned to new found pain,
I hide accursed--her mem'ry is my gain.
