There's stillness in the evening's mellow sky
as wonder fills me with a quiet glow
it permeates my soul with each new sigh
like Juliet awaiting Romeo.
Across the meadow on a gentle breeze
the lingering fall leaves float gently down
without a sound they cover boundaries
and change the whole complexion of our town.
But as the still night settles on the land
and ghostly shadows creep into my mind
the far-off sounds of day become like sand
and tell my earthly worries to unwind.
Tonight I'll pray for those who cannot see
the beauty that is ours eternally.

Author Notes
Last night, the stillness and beauty of the setting sun overwhelmed me, I was reminded of Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
