Trevor Rocks by Spiritual Echo 100 Word Story writing prompt entry |
Rock music blared from the clock radio. Mama was hollering up the stairs, "Breakfast's on the table." But Trevor was unlikely to see the light of day.
Beneath the duvet his body shook, spasms shooting up his legs and arms. "Get out of bed. You'll grow up to be a bum if you miss any more school." "I'm sick," Trevor moaned. His mother was unconvinced, but when she checked his temperature and saw the pallor of her son's skin, she fed him two Tylenol's and left water by the bed before leaving for work. Minutes after she left, Trevor made a phone call. "Yes, I'll have the money. Do you have the stuff?" An hour later, he'd pawned his mother's diamond ring and met his dealer to collect the crack. Trevor didn't need an education to fulfill his mother's prophecy. At fourteen, he was already a bum.
