Staunchly, Carrie brushed a tear away. She'd promised to be strong. Seven weeks, she'd held his hand, praying, battling doubt, desperately clutching to her waning faith. Surgery had been their only hope. Were the doctors wrong? Her lips quivered. "Please, Michael. Fight!" His eyelids flickered. Had he heard her plea?
