I sit staring
But I do not see
I am a river
Flowing
Through eternity
Seeking answers
To questions
That have no answers

Where shall the waters take me
Will the tides pull me
In eddies of swirling circles
Turning white into black
And black into blacker

Deeper and deeper
I sink
Breadth held tight
The cold numbs me
Is there darkness at the bottom of the sea

Or like the coral
Colored with life
Rainbows and fairy tales
Joining
In a storied saga
Of prince and princess
Where love everlasting
Brings happiness beyond belief

And pots of gold
Turning thoughts
And ambitions
Into wondrous bounties
Aglow with beauty
Aglow with hope
A golden ending
To a life of despair
A golden ending
To what should have been
