To love, or not to love...

You trust, you love,
then you're let down--
you build a wall..
protection
It's hard to let
anyone in--
but yet again
you try
They're kind and genteel
just what you need--
well for a while
at least
The wall begins to
crumble down
the sun starts
shining in
The brightness makes
your smile wide
like summer brings
great joy
You fall for charm and
empty words
you want to believe
are true
Soon enough
the brightness ends
the clouds begin
to gather
stone by stone
the wall returns
to guard your heart
forever
Another day, another dawn
once again I try
love and trust
I'll gladly embrace
for if not.. I might
die
