There are moments when your memory
comes to me in waves of anguish,
washing over me, drenching me
with loneliness and loss
There are moments when I swear I see you
and I turn hopeful, desperate eyes,
but then I know it can't be you,
you went home, five years ago
There are moments when I am filled
with the deepest of regrets at not
being there when you left this world,
leaving me here, bereft
There are moments when I would give
anything to speak to you once more,
to hear your laugh, to hold you close,
to say, ``I love you mom.``
These moments come and go like the tides,
bringing surges of heart wrenching emotion,
then ebbing, as my tears are released,
and I try to go on, missing you
