despair

Stripped away my

You laughed as I
grovelled
For every word of
praise

There was a time
long ago
When I could look
in a mirror
Now I hang my head
in shame
The image serves
to sicken.

I was stupid to
believe
That you could love
at all
I'm older but no
wiser
Your deceit I failed
to see.

Go now, get out of my life
Take your lies, please disappear
