Beneath a Crescent Moon by AlvinTEthington

I cry beneath a crescent moon;
It's coming soon--
Impending doom;
On me it looms.

Take this away, oh God, I pray.
My feet are clay.
Insanity
has tempted me.

Amidst the cold, dark, deadly night
I feel such fright.
Foul demons take
My soul to break.

Author Notes
The requirements for this type of poem are strict iambic meter, a syllabic count of 8,4,4,4 in three quatrains, and an aabb ccdd eeff rhyming scheme. Note that there is a difference in the ending consonant sounds of the a and b rhyme, so it is not a strict rhyme.

Feet of clay--Daniel 2: 31-33; contemporary meaning is "to have a fatal weakness."
