You are my hope in times of trouble
my comfort in times of fear
You protect me from all evil
and for those whom I hold dear
You are strength and shield and light and shade
forgiving all the errors made
Your love for me never pales
there is victory in those nails
You are the peace that makes me sleep at night
satan's minions take flight
You are my protection against my foe
and silently, lovingly, watch me grow
Your wisdom never fails...for
You were the one who chose those nails
you thought nothing of the cost
as you hung dying on the cross
And yet You are happy to call me friend
and on You I can depend
I don't see you on the cross
among the criminals or the lost
but the resurrected three in one
Father Spirit and Son
comfort comes like a flood
washed in the Saviour's blood
