Poem of the Month contest entry

I’m nothing more than a spotlight

over the shadows you leave behind

and tales of your charm and grace

set my imagination ablaze

I wait in vain for your presence

as my unrequited love withers at your feet

while you live on the other side of the world

I exist on the long night of my soul

moon’s love for the sun dies in the dark

ONE LINE HAIKU, is similar to a monostich poem. In Japan, haiku are traditionally printed in a single line, while haiku in English are written in three lines and 17 syllables or less. Haiku includes a comparison between two images by placing them adjacent to one another, we arrive at a more profound understanding of the nature of each part. wikipedia
