Rich and Thick by Terry Reilly
Limerick Challenge writing prompt entry

A fussy young colleen from Limerick,

found Murphy's dark stout made her feel sick.

Her suitor, from Cork,

although flush, was a dork,

like Murphy's black brew - rich but thick.

Writing Prompt
What better way to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day than by writing a limerick! Write a 5-line poem with the classic AABBA rhyme scheme. Happy Saint Patricks Day!

Author Notes
colleen = Irish word for girl or young woman.
flush = slang for having loads of money.
dork = slang for a stupid person.
Two stouts brewed in Ireland have quite a rivalry. Guiness (brewed in Dublin) connoisseurs look down their noses at Murphy*s (brewed in Cork), viewing it as unsophisticated, rough, from the country. Thick and crude, if you will.
