The larger prints are men’s size ten,

distinctive pattern made by Chen.

The ladies sizes six and eight

will, at the moment have to wait.

The casts are made on plaster slabs

with drag mark findings sent to labs.

The birch trees rise  in Kirby‘s field.

The sampled sap is bagged and sealed.

Some sap was found on one girl’s dress.

This evidence is one big mess.

Too many trees can make it tough

to find the tree to match the stuff.

They’ll test the sap from ev’ry tree

within the mile and then they’ll see

the tree whose sap’s the matching one,

and then they’ll know what must be done.

The lab will match the samples found

to sap on dress and on the ground.

The only girl that it was on,

her nails were done at some salon.

They hope that they’ll identify

the place and maybe find the guy.

They’ll find salons around her home,

and ask the owners if she’s known.

It’s time to canvas all the stores

for shoes by Chen on showroom floors.

The store that’s found to have that brand

will give the biggest clue at hand.

Their luck continues with this hit.

The fourth one has the shoes that fit.

They all have such distinctive tread.

It’s here that all the clues have led.

It’s only three that have been sold.

They feel like they have struck some gold.

They show the owner casts they took.

He starts to look inside his book.

Author Notes
Detective Mike Brady has to catch a serial killer

This is before there were high tech cameras that could have been been installed and not noticed in Kirbys field

Even the green River killer dumped bodies over and over again in the same spot and because there were no high tech cameras they could not catch him on camera doing it
