Weather beckons, and Christmas draws near
the gifts under the tree
soon, the celebrations will be over
back to mediocrity
echoed in our minds are the words
"Happy New Year”
yet rarely is it happy
sometimes tinged with fear

Political argy-bargy at home or elsewhere
and journalists tell their stories
as though they really care
we have dreams of the future
despite the doom and gloom
friends still laugh together
and music still holds a tune

Above it all is Jesus
Our faith in Him the key
born in Bethlehem
died at Calvary
I try to tell satan to go away
with the Lord beside me
I know He will not betray
Let’s drink to prosperity
the fact that we are alive
So much joy is in store for us
