Sydney wanted a kitten more than anything in the world. She begged her parents night and day. Finally, they gave in and got her one. It was a beautiful black and white kitten with a long tail. However, when they did, no one considered the ramifications.

When the Christmas season arrived, the family hung lights in all the windows and decorated the tree. Beautifully wrapped gifts were placed. It didn’t even take one day before the cat had yanked the lights out of the windows, chewed through the wires, and tore open the presents. Dad went out and bought more decorations and put them up. The next night, the entire family was awakened by a crashing noise. They ran into the living room to find the tree toppled over and most of the decorations broken. The lights were once again torn down, the gifts ripped open. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the cat had pooped in the tree and gotten into the bread. Dad had reached his limit.

He attempted to catch the cat, but of course it had the “zoomies”. Mom tried to grab her as she ran by, but only succeeded in falling for her troubles. Sydney thought it was a game, and she began running around, yelling “I’m the cat, I’m the cat”. Once Mom and Dad managed to corral the cat, Dad closed her up in the bathroom for the night. It took most of the next day to clean up the mess, and Dad went to the store when they were done. He came back with a kennel for the cat. However, Sydney let her out when Mom and Dad weren’t looking.

Mom had begun her baking for Christmas dinner, and she had the turkey out to thaw. Naturally, the cat had a blast that night. When they got up on Christmas morning, all of the food was everywhere and Sydney’s gifts from Santa were torn up and strewn everywhere. That was the last straw! Dad kenneled the cat and padlocked the door. Mom was so disappointed about her dinner, but there was nothing to do except have sandwiches for dinner.

Dad checked the internet for solutions, and as soon as businesses were re-opened, Dad brought the cat to the vet and had her fixed. The vet prescribed medication to calm her down. Mom said it was a shame they had waited so long to take her to the vet.

Sydney, not understanding why the cat didn’t run around as much anymore, began carrying her and running around the house. However, she soon tired of that when the cat gained more weight.

The next Christmas was much more peaceful and pleasant. All the cat did was sleep under the Christmas tree.
