A Christmas Conundrum by Lana Marie Christmas Shopping writing prompt entry |
Christmas shopping so stressful, not calm From big pricey gadgets to cheap lip balm. The hustle, the bustle, the loud, endless crowd, Leaves me wishing I was wrapped in a shroud. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas time, just not spending my hard-earned dime. shopping for those who already have plenty. Gets my mind wrapped up in a frenzy. Toys and trinkets, and clothes galore for those who really don't need anymore. What about the sibling that has a fling, a gift for them we also must bring? I’d rather sit with my family that night, Sharing stories by the firelight. No gifts exchanged, just a heart shift, For love itself is the greatest gift. Amazon’s there, just a click away, So why the rush for one frantic day? Much simpler when my kids were small, Those days it was easy to buy presents for all. But now the gifts have a heavier cost, Debt piles up, and peace gets lost. If you charge it all, you'll make payments all year, Then repeat the cycle, oh Christmas cheer! Don’t mistake me—I play the game too Seeing their smiles, warms my heart through. But maybe we’d find more meaning you see, with love, not things from a shopping spree.
