What Faith Means to Me by Julie Mastel Faith Flash contest entry |
Faith has always been a cornerstone of my life. In my heart, God is the omnipotent and omniscient ruler of the universe. He is our creator, sovereign over all His creation. He is the God of our Bible, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end. There are no other gods greater than Him, worthy of glory and praise. Our God has hundreds of names and attributes found in the Bible, the most-read book of all time. He is a God of love, mercy, kindness and goodness, yet also the supreme authority above all others. The King of Glory, whose radiance is so bright that no man could gaze upon Him. Skeptics find it hard to believe in this God because of pain on this earth, but His truth is clearly explained in the sacred text. Believers are fortunate enough to have their spiritual eyes open to the reality of this divine Being. There was a time when I battled with depression. In my desperation, I asked for prayer, and it was then the Holy Spirit filled me, giving me a new life in Jesus. This rebirth brought an acknowledgment of my sins and the gift of complete forgiveness. The Holy Spirit within me became my source of faith and hope. He also gave me peace. Faith became my guide through trials and tribulations, a trust in Almighty’s hands to take care of me. When I lose my way, faith is the light that eventually emerges, illuminating my path. My God was with me yesterday in my past, today, and in all the tomorrows to come. The promise of an eternal presence with God is a profound comfort. He is not a distant deity; He is a personal God, the God of Love, guiding me through every aspect my life.
