Bellia, the wiccan witch,
accompanied by her familiars,
brews a youth potion
sprinkled with stardust
by the cold-moon light

Author Notes
Wicca = a religion influenced by beliefs and practices of Western Europe that affirms the existence of magic of male and female deities in nature and that emphasizes ritual observance of seasonal and life cycles.
Familiars = In the medieval periods, familiars meant companions believed to be supernatural entities or spiritual guardians that would protect or assist witches in practicing magic, divination, and spiritual insight.
Yule (Wiccan Winter Solstice) / Cold Moon is the full moon in December
Tanka is a Japanese unrhymed poem arranged in five lines; Japanese tanka is 5/7/5/7/7 = 31 syllables; English tanka is 31 syllables or LESS because Japanese and English syllables are different. Tanka originated in the 6th century at the Japanese Imperial Court where lovers exchanged tanka poems for each other after a night of passionate lovemaking. With contemporary tanka the topic varies.
