I thought about the rivers I have crossed,
Some mighty and some mere streams across the land;
Each lending its own challenges to life.
I realized the streams are like the life I have lived;
Emotional obstacles to be overcome along the journey.
Some crossings have required a mighty bridge,
Others were only shallow rivers to be waded through.
Life’s challenges have been equally troubling;
Tears that that flooded down and tore through the soul;
Like rushing waters tearing through the soil.
But each successful crossing accomplished,
Took me to other places in life;
Sometimes I tired as a I fought rushing currents.
Often drained by emotional turmoil.
Yet, hopeful that the land on the other side of the river,
Or that the next day will be brighter in my heart;
And will become the change needed to go to my next chapter.
