My heart was beguiled by her hip-tilting walk.

By the twirls and the swirls of her blue and white smock.

By her ivory skin and her even sharp teeth.

By the lacy pink petticoat showing beneath.

By the silken white stockings enfolding each calf.

By the ease and the tease of her tinkling laugh.

By her tumbling tresses refracting the light.

By her piercing pale eyes like bright stars in the night.

By her languid demeanour, betraying no care.

My heart was beguiled as she strolled to the Fair.

Author Notes
I couldn*t find an art work that matched my mental image of the entrancing young lady, so selected an Irish country scene instead.
Sorry.
In Ireland*s deep south-west the unmarried women from the mountain communities traditionally wore white stockings.
*Though being from the mountings her stockings were white, and I*d love to be tightening her garters.* (Traditional song.)
To this day, many women in the south-west of Ireland have sallow Mediterranean skin colour and dark eyes. They may well be descendants of Spanish sailors whose galleons, fleeing the failed Armada attack of 1588, were wrecked on the Irish coast. Some of the survivors interbred with the local women. The annual Rose of Tralee beauty competition is often won by women with such features.
