A poem about summer storms

The horirzon darkens with ominous clouds
Off in the distance a rumble is heard
Jagged lightning lights up the sky
Thunderstorms are rolling by

A crack of thunder is heard nearby
Static fills the air, as the dark clouds approach
Wind whipping the trees, and shedding their coats
The smell of rain is in the air

Fast approaching storms are coming toward
Goosebumps cover the neck
A loud clap of thunder is heard overhead
Jagged lightning reaches the ground

Summer thunderstorms are the loudest around
The sky is black and churning clouds
Oh no, there's a twister forming
Ready to touch the ground

Minutes pass, as everyone holds their breath
Is the twister coming, or receding back?
Up in the clouds the tornado goes
Bated breath is exhaled

The black clouds open up
Torrential rain is coming  down
Wind blows hard to the west
Rain pellets beat against the window pane

Rivulets of water starts to form
Torrential rain is on the ground
Washing away all in its path
The rain starts to recede, leaving distaster in its path

The storm has come and left its rain
A freshness in the air from the summer storm
The sunshine peeks through the clouds
The summer storm is no more

Author Notes
I love free form poetry and I love nature. I have always been fascinated with thunderstorms and the power they have in nature.
