Battle of the Sprites writing prompt entry

Jesperette hung out her open 3rd story bedroom window overlooking her parents’ corvettes. Tearing up, she recalled the fight she had heard them having, over the same thing for the past week.

She picked up her piggy bank, and gripped it like a baseball. She looked over at her large mirror, and raised her arm.

Suddenly, a floating red glow fluttered through her window.

“Do it Jesperette, throw the piggy through the mirror.”

“Who are you?” Jesperette asked innocently.

“Oh you’ve seen me! I’m Meteorite the sprite, I hang out in your tree!”

“What are you doing in my room?” Jesperette asked as the sprite sat down on her shoulder.

“I just saw you were mad, and I wanted to say, throw it! It will make you feel better.”

“Don’t throw it!” A voice cried from outside the window.

In came a floating white glow that buzzed around for a second, then crashed into Jesperette’s other shoulder.

“What are you doing here Highlight the sprite?” Meteorite the sprite growled gleefully.

“She doesn’t have to do it!” Highlight said happily.

“Her parents got her that as a birthday gift! Not to mention the mirror!”

Jesperette unclutched the piggy bank, and set it down on the floor.

“Oh now look what you’ve done!” Meteorite cried out.

She jumped off Jesperette’s shoulder, and tackled Highlight off the other.

They began clashing in the air, pink flashes sparking every time they came together.

Jesperette went back over to her window, and the darkness outside was in competition with pink flashes sparking everywhere, watching the coloured sprites dueling in the moonlight.

Meteorite and Highlight, tired of fighting, slowly floated together back onto Jesperette’s shoulders.

“Always good seeing you ol’ pal.”

“You too, without you I wouldn’t be me.”

Suddenly, Jesperette heard her door slowly creak open, as Meteorite and Highlight disappearing into thin air off her shoulders.

“Hi honey.” She heard in her mother’s voice.

“Don’t the fireflies just look wonderful tonight?”
