King Midas
loved gold and wished
everything he touched
would turn.
He touched his palace,
sneakers, watches,
KFC, Diet Coke, Big Mac,
toilet throne, rich friends,
and even his royal kin folks.
After a while,
he realized
it was not a blessing
or a good concept.
It was a curse.
He wished everything
would turn back
the way it once was.
Nah, just kidding,
he loved gold more

Author Notes
The story of King Midas is a myth about the tragedy of greed and selfishness. Midas was a man who wished that everything he touched would turn into gold. However, he had not thought that this wish was not a blessing, but a curse He turned food to gold, the family he loved, etc… His greed invites us to think and realize the consequences that may lead us to become slaves of our own desires.
Thank you for reading and reviewing my poem, I appreciate it.
