Why put off til tomorrow
what you could get done today
after meaning to do it yesterday
when procrastination
stepped in the way.
Axiomatic as this may be
how little thought has been given by me
thinking there's plenty of time
to make things right
when, in fact, nears the night
when, what should, and could have
will likely never get done
before the last grain of sand
drops from the top of my hourglass.
There are no time-outs
once our time is set in motion.
We no longer have control;
unable to adjust our moments,
not knowing which granule
will be the last to pass.
akin to 'the pill' in roulette...
Life is a game of chance.
Hear ye, Hear ye, Kemo sabe.
You know what I write
is more often right
than believing night precedes day;
though that's true, too, since a day
begins at the stroke of midnight
which is always dark unless you live
at either pole once each year.
