A small boy's version of the Bible
Did Jesus REALLY say that? by Wendy G

The photo shows Jeremiah, who turned three just three days ago. He goes to preschool two days a week and is developing a love for books, especially when Miss Bianca reads his favourite storybook.

His parents are also trying to instil a respect for, and interest in Bible reading, from an early age.

He enjoys listening to his mother reading his own age-appropriate book of Bible stories before bed each night, but it seems that sometimes he prefers more weighty reading material.

Here, it looks as though Jeremiah is reading from the gospel of Matthew. If you thought that, you would be mistaken.

He is in fact ''reading'' from the book of Jeremiah. He ''reads'' the Bible with a very expressive voice, unlike many pastors who read in a monotone. Yesterday he took His father's Bible, and was quite passionate about his Bible "reading". This is what he said, and I quote:

So Jesus told him, “Don’t touch my doughnuts! YOU TOUCHED MY DOUGHNUTS! KEEP YOUR FINGERS AWAY FROM THEM! DO NOT TOUCH! SO! THIS IS THE BIBLE!!”

Now in all my years, I have never seen that in the Bible. Perhaps I need to re-read the book of Jeremiah to see if I have missed something! Have YOU ever read that in the Bible? If not, you should check again, because apparently that’s what it says, according to this three-year-old.

At preschool, his favourite book, read by Miss Bianca, is called Donut Touch (DO NOT TOUCH) about a dinosaur trying to make sure no one takes his doughnuts – and the moral of the story is about learning to share. Perhaps Jeremiah has missed the point at preschool about sharing, and got fixated on the doughnuts. He wants to warn people about taking his favourite treat.

And no, doughnuts are not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. And no, Jeremiah can't read yet either!

*Donut Touch*, a children's book about learning to share, by Seb Davey and Alex Willmore.
Mikey the T. rex loves donuts, but he doesn't like sharing. When Mikey's delicious donuts start to disappear one by one, he thinks that the reader is taking them, but he is too busy worrying about his donut dilemma to see what's right behind him. Will Mikey ever learn to share?
A laugh-out-loud, interactive story in which readers must try to turn the pages without touching the donuts and upsetting the dinosaur.
