The greatest eggplant/aubergine dish ever. From Turkish cuisine. Before cooking the eggplants are soaked in extravagant quantities of extra virgin olive oil, then stuffed with seasoned onions, tomatoes and garlic. Usually served with bulgur rice.
The high priest fainted either because his wife*s dish was so rich and tasty it blew him away, or because she used so much expensive prime olive oil that the financial consequences were prohibitive! You decide which is more likely.
Imam bayildi translates as the high priest fainted, swooned or fell over.
