Love And Flowers by jim vecchio
Passionate Love in Black and White writing prompt entry

True love’s ne’er to be expressed in man’s words

‘Tis more than brightest blossom in spring’s day

Thou can not sense a flower, nor delve inside

For love dwells deep within, consuming soul

Flowers wither, you never get to know them

True love’s patient, long suffering, lingers

It will bite and sting and leave you with a scar

A scar deeply set, yet carried willingly

You’ll know that it is love when love has gone

And that scar will fester, breaking you inside

-That’s when you know for sure, you are alone

Writing Prompt
Write a passionate love poem, any style, any length. Try to make us feel the heat and passion of your lovers without being vulgar or blatant. It has to be clean enough so you don't need to put any warnings on your poem.

Author Notes
Canzone means 'a song' in Italian. This poetic form dates back to medieval Italy, where it was used by writers including Petrarch and Dante before evolving into the sonnet. It has anywhere between seven and 20 lines with ten or eleven syllables each.
The canzone, sometimes also known as a canzona, is a 16th-17th century Italian verse form that is made up of somewhere between one and seven stanzas, each of which is of a similar length. Usually, there are eight to twenty lines per stanza and 10-11 syllables per line. In some variations of the verse form, the poet makes use of keywords rather than a traditional rhyme scheme. Often times the verse form is compared to a madrigal or a sestina. These keywords, which vary from poem to poem, are crucial to the overall structure and are intimately connected to the larger themes of the work, whatever they may be.
