Exceptional Free Verse 2024 Gypsy's Tanka : The Birthday Girl by Gypsy Blue Rose dedicated to all the birthday girls

The Birthday Girl   no more innocence no more walks on the beach no more looking for treasures no more playing in the sea   as a child the beach was a wonderland with fishstars, smooth stones, blue smooth glass, seashells, and mom's delicious snacks   as a young woman the ocean meant romance passion and dance but all of that is gone       meditating cross-legged facing Mother Ocean the ebb carries her old memories into the sea   all and all she has no regrets today is her birthday   one year more   one year less     she is comforted with a thought,  getting old is not bad—   it means you're still alive          Author Notes This free verse poem is about growing old from a woman's perspective. This is just a poem. Many older women have full happy lives, they are vibrant, and in good health. But most women can probably relate more or less. Thank you very much for your time and kind review.
